Prescott’s Veteran StandDown

Olsen’s Grain in Prescott and NutriSourse are sponsoring Prescott’s Veteran StandDown.  We are donating 60 bags of dog food to give to veterans service animals.

The Arizona Veterans StandDown Alliance (AVSA) is a program of the Arizona Housing Coalition.  AVSA holds annual events and resource fairs in 13 of Arizona’s 15 counties.  These events allow veterans and their families experiencing housing instability and homelessness to get and stay connected to supportive services.

The Arizona Housing Coalition leads in the efforts to end homelessness and provides safe, affordable housing for all Arizonans. 

SOLDIER’S BEST FRIEND 

Soldier’s Best Friend provides the United States military veterans living with combat-related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with Service or Therapeutic Companion Dogs. Most of the dogs are rescued from local shelters. The veteran and dog train together to build a trusting relationship that saves two lives at once and inspires countless others.

A Service or Therapeutic Companion Dog provides constant support that can make it easier for veterans to readjust to civilian life and manage symptoms such as :

Soldier’s Best Friend is an Arizona-based nonprofit. Currently, training is offered in Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff, Prescott, and Sierra Vista. On average, veteran/dog teams complete training in 6-9 months. Veterans with a confirmed diagnosis of PTSD or TBI who live in Arizona or are willing to relocate to Arizona for the duration of training are welcome to apply.
