Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters

Justin Corbell and Little Bro Manuel

Olsen’s Grain is proud to recognize Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters for the amazing work they do in the Quad Cities, Sedona and Verde Valley area. Here is one match that you may see roaming around our tight-knit community— Justin Corbell and Little Brother Manuel are what some may consider “brothers for life.” Justin grew up in Chino Valley, and has been coming to Olsen’s Grain since he was the size of a baby goat. Manuel also lives in Chino Valley, where there are an abundance of children waiting to be matched to a Big.

Justin was raised in a western family, competing at rodeos both in-state and out of state since he was 5. At 19, he is now passing his knowledge of Rodeo to his Little Brother who enjoys everything they do together. Manuel is a natural at team roping, and had never really been exposed to livestock before he met his Big. Now he has a new passion to compete in rodeos and be successful. Meet Justin this Saturday, January 23rd from 11 am to 2pm in Olsen’s of Chino Valley to talk more with him about why he is so passionate about being a mentor. Want to learn more about Big Brothers Big Sisters? Shoot Justin an e-mail and visit the Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters website or call the YBBBS office at (928) 778-5135.

About Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters

Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters is a donor and volunteer supported organization and is the nation’s leading Big Brothers Big Sisters agency in the number of children matched per capita. Founded in 1971, Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters currently serves over 1,000 youth in one-to-one relationships. Our service area encompasses 20 communities and 65 schools throughout Yavapai County and Sedona.

Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters operates under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. Most children served by Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters are in single-parent and low-income families. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”).

Research tells us that, compared to all other children their age, boys and girls matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister perform better in school and avoid violence and illegal activities, and have stronger relationships with their parents and others.

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday at Olsen’s Grain Chino Valley to meet Rodeo Champion Justin Corbell and learn more about Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters!
