Yavapai Humane Society

Yavapai Humane Society – Where every animal counts.

Yavapai Humane Society was founded in 1972 by a group of concerned animal lovers. Forty years later, the group is still providing compassionate care to animals that find themselves homeless.  Medical treatment is offered to injured and abused animals as well as helpful programs and services to the pet owners of Yavapai County.

Funding and Support

YHS is a private, non-profit organization whose operations are funded primarily with donations, fundraisers, grants and the support of the community. YHS does have a contractual obligation to provide animal care for stray dogs and cats brought in by animal control officers of Prescott, Prescott Valley and Yavapai County, but these funds represent less than 10% of the group’s annual income.

You can support YHS through the donations of cash and supplies and through wills and bequests. Also, YHS welcomes volunteers to assist with various activities such as fundraising and helping out with routine duties around the shelter, Thrift Shop and Clinic. Please click on any of the links to help your Yavapai Humane Society.

Please Give Locally!

Many local residents mistakenly believe that Yavapai Humane Society or their own local animal shelter is funded by national animal welfare groups. However, YHS currently receives no funding from the national groups, nor are they governed by or affiliated with any other national animal welfare group. The YHS is a local nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to caring for homeless and needy animals in our community.

The only way to help local homeless, unwanted, abandoned and abused pets is by making a donation directly to the Yavapai Humane Society.  Please donate online or contact YHS at 928-445-2666 x 20 if you would like to help.
